Buddy Day brings little guests to the CMA plaza

On Monday, we hosted our second annual community outreach program called Buddy Day. Student volunteers were paired up with children ages 3-11 who attend the Capitol School of Austin, a school for children with speech and language impairments.

The event, a Mario-themed carnival, was kicked off at 10 a.m. on the CMA plaza. Bright decorations and costumes (Mario and Princess Peach themselves were spotted taking part in the action!) helped the kids get into the spirit and really enjoy the day. Carnival-style booths gave them a chance to do a multitude of activities including decorating Mario mustaches and Princess Peach crowns, tie-dying t-shirts, hopscotch, a beanbag toss, and a puppet show. The kids received prizes for each activity completed.

These activities lasted until noon when it was time to say goodbye. Everyone was able to enjoy a morning of fun and laughter, and we can only hope that the kids had as much fun as the volunteers did!
